  • A Hub for Student Life

    Where Commuter Culture Meets Connection

Blackney Hayes partnered with Ocean County College to design a new 55,000 square foot, two-story College Center that anchors student life at the heart of campus. Positioned between the original campus mall and a new pedestrian path leading to the upper campus, the building acts as a true connector, uniting students across the commuter-heavy campus. Designed as a vibrant social core, the student center offers a much-needed place for students to relax, study, and engage between classes. The architecture supports this energy, with freeform spaces unfolding within a multi-story open volume beneath a sweeping roofline. Expansive curtainwall glazing floods the interiors with light and creates a visual link between campus zones, serving as a welcoming presence by day and a glowing landmark by night.

  • Built for Belonging

Layered Programming Supports Every Facet of Student Life

Inside, the College Center houses a range of spaces that respond to student needs and campus culture. A modern, full-service dining area features extended-hours coffee service; a welcome center and student life offices anchor the building’s core; and students can gather in club rooms, lounges, a game room, and conference spaces. With flexible environments that support everything from quiet studying to student leadership, the center becomes a place of community. Designed to achieve LEED Silver Certification, the building reflects the college’s commitment to sustainability while delivering long-term value in both performance and experience.
