  • Built for Every Kind of Learner

A Student-Centered Environment for Discovery and Growth

The Montgomery County Intermediate Unit (MCIU) envisioned a space that would nurture student curiosity while meeting a wide range of educational needs. That vision became the Discovery Center, a student-centered facility that reimagines a three-story office building into a welcoming, purpose-built learning environment.

  • Building Skills, Building Futures

Innovative Spaces for Skill-Building and Growth

Nearly 60,000 square feet of interior space were transformed to include Pre-K classrooms on the first and second floors, and high school career-readiness programs on the third. A cosmetology lab, horticultural lab, and a workshop space give students the opportunity to gain real-world skills in a supportive setting. The renovation also introduced a new playground and elevator, expanding both accessibility and joy. With a $9 million construction cost, the Discovery Center reflects a bold investment in student futures.
