The homeowners desired a retreat as well as a place for entertainment. The design created juxtaposition between modern elements and the historic fabric of the existing structure. Renovations are consistent with the historic home; wood plank ceilings and beams were added and crown molding used is based on historic trim details. In contrast, stairs, lighting and furniture are contemporary, as is the open plan treatment of the main living space.
