Chinatown Hing Wah Yuen

Located within one city block, the project included 51 homeownership units for market, moderate and low-income households. Significant site limitations centered around its adjacency to the Vine Street Expressway and the commuter rail tunnel, which runs under the site.  The site limitations were capitalized upon in planning the project. Where no building was allowed over the commuter rail tunnel, open areas incorporating landscaping, recreation space and parking were designed. To control noise, a group of homes were designed with baths and closets located at the rear of the unit and operable windows facing the expressway were eliminated.
